Lucy Condon

Picture yourself in a boat on a river

With tangerine trees and marmalade skies

Somebody calls you, you answer quite slowly

A girl with kaleidoscope eyes.

Above are the opening lines of Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds, a song from 1967 written by John Lennon. The piece was allegedly inspired by a drawing depicting his little son’s classmate named Lucy, for whom Julian Lennon clearly had an affection at that time. Today my girl with an eye for beautiful things is Lucy Condon, a volunteer coordinator at Arnolfini gallery in Bristol.
